Wormsloe Plantation’s entrance begins with a one and a half mile avenue lined with approximately four hundred live oaks.
Wormsloe Plantation was established in 1737 by Noble Jones, one of the first British colonists in the area. Wormsloe was Noble Jones’ country estate where he tested his horticultural interests. Jones protected the cypress and oak forests of his property and never cultivated the land.
Ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss line the drive to a plantation ruin. The deep sultry aroma of a creamy magnolia. Deep shadows and dappled light drifts through trees.
In the middle of some of the busiest highrise cities in the world, the backyards and parks still center around ancient oak trees. Under an oak tree, the world seems so peaceful, light filtering through branches shading you. These trees have lived centuries and will live for centuries to come. They give our lives perspective.
